Some applications require features which are well suited to crystal optics. In these controlled environments, where environmental factors such as humidity and vibration are minimized, IRISS creates IR windows using materials suited to the environmental factors in a specific application. The VPFC uses the most common material used in these specialty windows: CaF2 (Calcium Fluoride) crystal. The VPFC series windows are on average 30% larger in viewing area diameter and less expensive than other CaF2 windows on the market. Users can be confident in the chemical resistance of the housing and in the IP65 seal (open & closed). All crystal optics windows are offered with aluminum cover only.
Industrial-grade 1/2″ (13mm) Ultrasound Port
It is true that experienced technicians can find a strong ultrasonic signal in many pieces of switchgear and power distribution applications by “listening” around the edges of the panel covers or doors where the seal is imperfect; however, many pieces of equipment are now manufactured with IP65 seals, making the acquisition of a good ultrasonic signal all but impossible. The use of an ultrasound port provides clear access to ultrasonic signatures, even in IP65 (NEMA 4) enclosures. Ports will also help to standardize work practices in CBM programs by simplifying the process for less experienced or new members of the CBM group, helping to ensure repeatability and reproducibility (an ISO manager’s dream). IRISS created the world’s first ultrasound port, the VP-12, to give ultrasound technicians unobstructed access to their targets. Our non-conductive ultrasound ports use UL746 rated components. When closed, they provide an IP65 (NEMA 4) seal, and when open they are smaller than the IP2X standard which IEEE sets for medium and high-voltage switchgear. the VP12IR viewport is designed to work with small aperature lens infrared cameras. PDS Ports maintain equipments “closed & guarded” condition and incorporate an ultrasound sensor and 3.5mm jack for use in conjunction with SONUS handheld Ultrasound units. Note, an adapter cable is required depending on the model of SONUS handheld being employed to collect data.
